Brahim Díaz Joins AFCON History with Five-Game Scoring Streak

Published: 2 months ago

Morocco forward Brahim Díaz has made history at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by scoring in five consecutive matches, equalling a record set by Ghana legend Osei Kofi in 1968.

Díaz’s latest goal came in Morocco’s 2-0 quarter-final win over Cameroon on Friday, sending the Atlas Lions into the semifinals.

The Real Madrid attacker opened his AFCON account against Comoros in the group stage and followed up with goals against Mali, Zambia, Tanzania in the round of 16, and now Cameroon in the quarter-finals.

By netting in five straight games, Díaz becomes only the second player in tournament history to achieve the feat, joining Osei Kofi, who was a key figure for Ghana in the 1960s and a top scorer at the 1965 AFCON.

Looking ahead, Díaz has the chance to etch his name even deeper into the record books: a goal in the semifinals against the winner of Algeria vs. Nigeria would make him the first player ever to score in six consecutive AFCON matches.
