A new chapter. A bigger stage. A long-term vision.
Black Queens midfielder Stella Nyamekye has revealed why she chose Norwegian side SK Brann, insisting the club’s ambition and clear development pathway made the decision easy.
The 20-year-old completed her switch from NJ/NY Gotham FC, penning a deal that will keep her in Bergen until 2028.
“I chose Brann because I believe in the project, and it will give me the best opportunity for my development and playing experience,” Nyamekye said.
“Brann is a great team that is fighting for several titles.”
Nyamekye spent the past year under contract in the National Women’s Soccer League, but gained valuable minutes on loan at Fort Lauderdale United FC, where she made 14 appearances, scoring once and providing two assists.
And she is clear about what she brings to the Norwegian title chasers.
“I am a player with good overview, good ball control, and I am creative in the final third. I can also contribute by both scoring goals myself and setting up chances for my teammates.”
Her attacking pedigree is no secret. During her time with Dreamz Ladies FC, she netted an impressive 31 goals in 41 matches. On the international stage, she has scored twice in three appearances for Ghana’s U20 side and has already earned six caps — with a goal — for the senior national team.
Brann’s sporting director Lars Johan Myklebust could barely hide his excitement.
“Stella is a player we have great faith in. She has good ball control and is strong one-on-one, and we believe she will fit well into the way we want to play. We are bringing in an ambitious player with great development potential.”
Nyamekye will officially link up with her new teammates in Bergen after representing Ghana at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
