The gap may be shrinking.
But the belief is not.
Head coach Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has brushed aside suggestions that his side are feeling the heat after Bibiani GoldStars closed in with a crucial win over Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
The Yellow and Mauves were held to a 1-1 draw by Swedru All Blacks in their Week 24 fixture ; a result that trimmed their lead at the summit to just one point.
Elsewhere, GoldStars’ 2-1 victory over Hearts piled serious pressure on the leaders, tightening what is quickly becoming a nerve-shredding title race.
But Tanko is refusing to blink.
“We have to look at our game. I don’t think we have to look elsewhere,” he insisted.
“If they won, we also picked a point here, and we are still league leaders, so we look at the next game.”
Calm words.
Confident tone.
Yet the reality is clear ; the once-comfortable cushion has disappeared, and every slip now carries heavier consequences.
Medeama remain top, but the chasing pack is breathing down their necks.
Next up is a crucial Week 25 home clash against Hohoe United ; a fixture that suddenly feels bigger than it did a week ago.
For Tanko and his men, the message is simple:
Ignore the noise.
Win the next game.
Protect the throne.
