Egypt has booked their spot in the AFCON semi-finals, defeating defending champions Ivory Coast 3-2 in a thrilling quarter-final match.
Omar Marmoush scored the opener in the 4th minute, and Mohamed Salah doubled the lead in the 52nd minute.
Ahmed Fatouh conceded an own goal, pulling one back for Ivory Coast, but Ramy Rabia’s header restored Egypt’s two-goal advantage.
Guela Doue’s late goal made it 3-2, but Egypt held on to secure their place in the semi-finals.
Salah, who scored and assisted, was instrumental in Egypt’s victory.
Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae had warned his team about Egypt’s attacking prowess, citing their 2006 AFCON final loss.
Egypt will face Senegal in the semi-finals, a repeat of the 2021 final.
