The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Emmanuel Lawson, eFootball Manager of Ghana’s national esports team, the Black Asteroids, has earned a FIFAe Referee Certificate following his participation in the FIFAe Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 17 to 19.
The certification was awarded after Lawson successfully completed an intensive FIFAe programme, which included an extended online course and assessments focused on elite-level esports officiating and governance. With this achievement, Lawson becomes the first FIFAe licensed referee within Ghana’s esports ecosystem.
The FIFAe certification programme covers key areas such as esports team management, player development, tactical preparation, mental conditioning, performance analysis, and the professional standards required at international eFootball competitions.
Lawson’s achievement marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian esports, strengthening the country’s presence within the global FIFAe framework and enhancing technical capacity at the highest level of competitive eFootball.
Beyond his esports role, Emmanuel Lawson also serves as Finance Manager at the GFA, where he has been an integral member of the association’s finance department for over five years.
The GFA has congratulated Lawson on the milestone, describing it as a positive step toward the growth and professionalisation of esports in Ghana.
