Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has expressed deep concern over his side’s poor run of form in the Ghana Premier League, after extending their winless streak to eight matches.
The Kpando-based outfit suffered a 3-0 defeat to Dreams FC on Sunday, a result that further dented their hopes of mounting a serious title challenge in the 2025/26 season.
Speaking after the match, Hayford admitted his frustration at seeing his team play attractive football without getting results.
“My worry is that we have lost about three or four matches in a row. Everywhere we go, people see that we are playing good football, but at the end of the day we lose. That’s exactly what happened today. We dominated, but out of the blue, they scored,” he told Heart of Lions TV.
The experienced tactician revealed that the prolonged poor run is beginning to take a psychological toll on his players, though he remains hopeful of a turnaround.
“Now the major work is on the players. I have to psyche them. They are really down. Having fought, and at the end of the day, they don’t take anything home. It’s a worry, but we will continue working hard,” he added.
Heart of Lions will have an opportunity to arrest their slump when they face relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders in their next league fixture, a match that could prove crucial for restoring confidence and momentum.
