Egypt has been fined $5,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for failing to fulfill media obligations after their opening match against Zimbabwe at AFCON 2025.

The Egyptian team, including players and technical staff, walked past journalists in the mixed zone without responding to post-match questions, violating CAF regulations.

CAF has issued a warning, stating that harsher sanctions will follow if Egypt fails to engage with the media after their match against South Africa today.

This incident has sparked debate, with some questioning the consistency of CAF’s enforcement.

Egypt continue their 2025 AFCON campaign with their second game against South Africa on December 26
