The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened an investigation into incidents involving players and officials during the quarter-final matches between Cameroon and Morocco, and Algeria and Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a statement released on Monday, CAF confirmed that it had reviewed match officials’ reports and video footage, which indicate potentially unacceptable conduct by some players and officials during the two encounters.
The continental governing body said the matters have been referred to its Disciplinary Board for further examination, with possible sanctions to be imposed should any individuals be found guilty.
CAF also revealed that it is assessing video evidence relating to a separate incident in the mixed zone, involving alleged misconduct by members of the media.
Reiterating its stance, CAF strongly condemned any form of inappropriate behaviour at its competitions—particularly actions directed at match officials, organisers or stakeholders—and warned that decisive action will be taken against anyone who fails to meet the required professional standards.
Morocco and Nigeria progressed to the semi-finals from their respective quarter-final ties and will face each other in Rabat on Wednesday, while Senegal and Egypt contest the other semi-final earlier the same day.
