Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has admitted that his side’s biggest challenge this season remains converting chances, despite being pleased with their overall consistency.
The Kpando-based club settled for a hard-earned goalless draw away to Hohoe United in a tense Volta Regional derby at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Friday.
Lions were made to sweat in the second half when Hohoe United were awarded a penalty, but captain Safianu Usman failed to capitalise, firing his effort over the bar.
That miss proved decisive, as Heart of Lions held firm defensively to escape with a valuable point from a difficult away fixture.
Reflecting on his team’s performance, Hayford stressed that the structure and consistency are in place, but the final touch is still lacking.
“Consistency is very good for every team,” he said.
“They are playing good, it’s all about converting our chances. That is what I have been working on, finishing.”
“When it comes to the real situation, then it’s a problem.”
The draw extends Heart of Lions’ steady run and keeps them sixth on the Ghana Premier League table.
