Toulouse FC vs Montpellier HSC – 02/10/2022

Toulouse's poor run of form to continue against Montpellier

1693

On Sunday afternoon, Toulouse hosts Montpellier at the Stadium de Toulouse as the home team searches for a rare Ligue One win.

The home team heads into this clash on the back of a poor recent run of form in the French top-flight. A 2-1 defeat at Lille means that Philippe Montanier’s team has now lost four of their previous five matches in the French top-flight.

In fact, Toulouse have won just two of their eight games in Ligue One this season after winning promotion in season 2021/22.

Defensive issues have hindered Toulouse’s chances of picking up points of late, as they have conceded at least two goals in five of their previous six Ligue One games.

Toulouse have a mixed home record in Ligue One this season, too, winning just one of their four matches on home soil in the French top flight. However, that one win came in their last home game in a 1-0 victory over Reims.

The visitors could not have endured a more inconsistent campaign in Ligue One, as they have won four and lost four of their eight matches in the French top-flight. Last time out, Montpellier recorded a 2-1 win over Strasbourg.

Montpellier’s recent league games have certainly not been lacking in the goals department, as seven of their eight matches in Ligue One this season has produced over 2.5 goals.

Montpellier have been woeful on their travels of late in the French top-flight, having lost seven of their previous eight away games in Ligue One.

On their travels, they have also conceded at least two goals in eight of their last ten league matches.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Montpellier will improve their recent poor away record by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter.
