A 18/1 Build #YourOdds for Real Madrid v Man City

Man City have one foot in the Champions League final after their entertaining 4-3 victory over Real Madrid last Tuesday.

With their first-leg lead, Pep Guardiola’s side could set up an all-English final against Liverpool in Paris on Saturday 28th May.

Ahead of the second leg from the Bernabeu, you can get a £5 free bet when you stake £5 with Build #YourOdds. We’ve been busy looking over the data and have come up with this 18/1 bet.

Both teams over 1.5 cards

Despite just 16 fouls in the first leg, second legs tend to have a lot more riding on them. Real Madrid will be chasing the game, while Man City will be looking to protect their advantage.

Experienced Italian referee Daniele Orsato is in charge and he’s not shy to show a card. His five Champions League matches this season have seen 29 yellows and one red.

Narrowing it down further, he’s overseen nine games in all competitions in 2022, showing 56 yellows and two reds. From those nine games, he’s shown both teams two or more cards on seven occasions.

Karim Benzema over 1 shot on target

Real Madrid’s talisman has to feature in some shape. His double in the first leg saw him overtake Robert Lewandowski and become the leading scorer in this season’s competition (14).

The Panenka penalty to bring Real back within one was world-class and he’ll be key once more to the hosts’ chances in this tie.

He leads the way for attempts (41) and shots on target (21) in this season’s competition, averaging 2.1 efforts on target per game.

In six Champions League matches this season he’s had over 1.5 shots on target. He hit five in the second leg against PSG and three in their over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Rodri to be carded

Rodri will be at the heart of Man City’s defensive effort in the Spanish capital. The midfielder has been booked eight times in all competitions this season, including twice in the Champions League.

He was cautioned in the second leg against Atletico Madrid in the previous round, while he was booked by tonight’s referee during the group stage win over PSG.

In the Premier League, he tops the fouls charts for City (39) and in the Champions League, he sits third overall, having committed 18 fouls.

Vinicius Junior to get an assist

One of the newer markets in the Build #YourOdds is ‘Player to Assist’, and there’s someone we can add here to boost the price – Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius gave Pep Guardiola some headaches in the first leg, which saw City replace John Stones with Fernandinho at right-back during the first half.

The Real forward has six assists in this season’s Champions League – only Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes (7) has more. From those six, four have come in home games.

The Brazilian set up nine goals during Madrid’s title-winning La Liga campaign. Plus, he’s grabbed an assist in three of his last four league appearances.

Real Madrid v Man City tips:

  • Both teams over 1.5 cards
  • Karim Benzema over 1 shot on target
  • Rodri to be carded
  • Vinicius Junior to get an assist

A Build #YourOdds bet with those four selections pays 18/1.
