Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablah (C.K) Akonnor, has concured to building Otto Addo’s new-look Black Stars team around Mohammed Kudus.
C.K, who served as Black Stars manager between 2020-2021, highlighted the impact of Kudus to the team, but bemoaned the importance of adhering to head coach Otto Addo.
“He is out star, we can’t argue about that. He is the person making waves for us, as far as Ghana is concerned. So, there’s nothing wrong with that. However, its up to the coach to know exactly wants he wants to do” he said on Citi Sports.
“He is a good player….young chap, who has developed from the youth to this level, and so we should be happy to have someone like him,” he added
Despite failing to find the back of the net for the Black Stars in two Fifa World Cup qualifying games in June, Mohammed Kudus etched his name in Ghanaian football history, becoming the fist player to score a brace in a World cup game (against South Korea).
Kudus’ 2022 World Cup form was unable to inspire the Black Stars to the knockout stages of the competition, suffering group stage exit after a final-day loss to Uruguay.
Despite performing at his maximum best (scoring a brace against Egypt), Ghana failed to pass the group stage hurdle in the 2023 AFCON, exiting after sharing the spoils with Mozambique.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are in line to make a 5th World Cup appearance, after beating Mali and Central Africa, respectively, in June’s Internationals.
