Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has expressed concerns about the current structure of national team management, advocating for a more streamlined approach.
He believes the numerous management committees overseeing each national team are hindering Ghana football’s progress.
Arhinful proposes a more centralized structure where a smaller team can handle specific tasks, such as matchday activities, rather than having separate committees for each national team.
He also criticizes the current system, stating that members of various committees are reluctant to hold the Ghana Football Association (GFA) accountable for fear of losing their positions.
“Instead of having separate management teams for all the national teams, I think we need to move away from that approach,” he told Happy FM.
“It’s high time we established a proper structure so that, for example, when the U-20 team is playing, two or three people can be appointed to oversee it.
“It’s as if no one can speak up. If the FA is doing something wrong, they remain silent because they want to stay on the management team.”
The GFA recently announced a new Black Stars Management Committee, chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, which includes notable figures such as Samuel Aboabire and Moses Armah.
