Desmond Ofei is confident that he can successfully balance his roles as head coach of the Black Satellites and assistant coach of the Black Stars.
Despite concerns about potential conflicts, Ofei believes the teams’ schedules won’t overlap since they don’t play at the same time during the FIFA international window.
Ofei’s appointment as assistant coach of the Black Stars came after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“Luckily, [Black Stars matches and U20 AFCON] don’t clash at all because the tournament with the U20s doesn’t fall within the FIFA window. Apart from that, we have a top technical team with the U20s, so it’s quite positive,” he told the GFA media.
“It is easy to combine [being assistant coach of Black Stars and head coach of Black Satellites].
“My role is quite simple. My role is to assist the head coach as best as I can. With me, it’s about hard work and supporting him at any level, and any areas that we feel we need to improve on.”
