Accra Hearts of Oak are targeting every available trophy in the 2026/27 season as they prepare for a fresh start under new head coach Nebojsa Kapor.
The Ghanaian club’s communications director, Kwame Opare Addo, said the Phobians want to end a run of disappointing seasons by delivering success for majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV.
Hearts of Oak have not won the Ghana Premier League since they claimed the title under Samuel Boadu in the 2020/21 campaign. Their stated ambition for the new season is to challenge for every competition available to them.
Opare Addo said the club believes victories on the pitch would be the best way to reward Togbe Afede XIV and bring supporters together behind the team.
“Togbe Afede XIV already has money, and what we can do is make him happy by winning games,” he said.
“I know he always wants to see the fans unite and come together to support the team.
“So what we can do is win games, which will make him happy and compete for every trophy that is there to be won as a club.”
The comments underline the scale of the challenge facing Kapor as he begins his tenure. Hearts of Oak are seeking a return to winning ways in domestic football after failing to reclaim the Ghana Premier League title since their success in the 2020/21 season.
The club also intends to strengthen its squad before the transfer window closes. Opare Addo said Hearts are assessing potential additions and expect to complete about five signings before the start of the campaign.
“I know that there are players we are looking at, and so we will sign about five players going into the season,” he added.
The planned recruitment will form part of Hearts of Oak’s preparations for a season in which the club wants to compete for every trophy. The club has not identified the players it is considering, but Opare Addo confirmed that work is under way to reinforce the squad.
Hearts of Oak will open their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign at home against Berekum Chelsea. The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, where the Phobians will begin their attempt to return to the top of Ghanaian football.
The opening fixture will also mark the start of a new era under Kapor, with the club’s leadership setting out an ambitious target before the season begins: to challenge for every available honour and restore success to Hearts of Oak.
