Bibiani Gold Stars SC have confirmed the appointment of Swiss international coach Markus Schmid as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The Ghana Premier League champions turn to Schmid following a period without a substantive manager after the departure of Stephen Frimpong Manso.
Schmid replaces Nana Yaw Amankwah, who had been serving in an interim capacity during the transition.
Schmid’s résumé includes assistant coaching roles at Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel and the Austria national team.
He later stepped into a lead role as head coach of the New Zealand national team, adding international pedigree to his profile.
Also, the Swiss tactician recently worked in Ghana, helping guide Kotoku Royals to promotion into the Premier League.
Gold Stars announced that his arrival signals “an exciting new chapter focused on ambition, steady growth, and long-term success”.
“We’re glad to have you with us,” the club added in its statement.
