Minister designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has made a bold pledge to revive Ghana’s sports sector, which has experienced a significant decline in recent years.
This decline has been felt across multiple sports, including football, boxing, and athletics
Answering a question posed to him by former Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, Adams reiterated the desire of his ministry to work hard to restore Ghana to its prime years in sports.
“We will be investing heavily in the other sports where we used to do so well, like boxing and athletics.
”It’s quite unfortunate that there was a draw for the AFCON just yesterday, and Ghana didn’t feature.
”We will work hard to make sure we get back to the glory days,” he said.
Ghana failed to qualify a single boxer to the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite the sport producing the most Olympic medals in the country’s history.
The senior men’s national football team, the Black Stars, also recently failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
