Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah speaks on his immediate target as Sudan national team coach

Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has opened up on his immediate target following his appointment as head coach of the Sudan national team.

Appointed as Sudan’s coach in September, he signed a three-year deal with the Sudan Football Association. Kwesi Appiah is poised to lead the Sudanese team on an exciting journey to the global stage.

Appiah, who doubles as Ghana FA Executive Council member in interview disclosed his immediate target as he aims to secure victory in his first two 2026 World Cup qualification games next month.

“We will start the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the next three weeks, so that is the immediate task to win those two games ahead of us. After those two games, we will take our time to build the team” he said.

The African qualifiers are scheduled to kick off in November 2023, where Sudan will compete with Senegal, Congo DR, Mauritania, Togo and South Sudan.
