Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko was left frustrated after his side missed the chance to return to the top of the Ghana Premier League following a 1-1 draw with Basake Holy Stars.
The visitors struck first in the 30th minute when captain Koffie Hagan reacted quickest in the box to slot home from close range.
Medeama dominated large spells of the contest and created several openings but struggled to convert their chances.
Basake Holy Stars held on until the final moments before substitute Kingsley Braye finally found the breakthrough for the hosts in stoppage time.
The late goal rescued a point for the Mauves and Yellows, who had been pressing relentlessly for an equaliser.
Speaking after the game, Tanko admitted his side paid the price for poor finishing.
“It’s very painful. I must say we squandered a lot of chances.
“We had the chances that normally we have to scored and we didn’t. It’s very painful, but we need to look at our next match. In the end, we have to be happy with the point.”
The result leaves Medeama one point behind league leaders Aduana FC as they prepare for an away trip to Heart of Lions in Kpando.
