RC Strasbourg have made an enquiry about Ghana international Kojo Oppong Peprah as they assess defensive reinforcements ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.

The 22-year-old defender, who currently plays for OGC Nice, has become a transfer target after making a strong impression during his debut campaign in France’s top flight.

Strasbourg are understood to be considering a move for Oppong Peprah as they seek greater depth and additional options in defence before the summer transfer window closes. The Alsatian club are continuing to reshape their squad ahead of the upcoming football season.

The club had initially looked at Senegal international Ibrahima Ba. However, that deal fell through after Ba failed his medical examination, prompting Strasbourg to redirect their attention towards Oppong Peprah.

The Ghanaian’s performances for OGC Nice have helped raise his profile in Ligue 1. His calmness in possession, defensive qualities and understanding of the tactical demands of the division have made him an appealing option for clubs looking to develop emerging talent.

Strasbourg’s search for defensive reinforcements has also been affected by uncertainty over the future of Ismael Doukoure. The club are therefore assessing their options as they look to strengthen the backline before the start of the new campaign.

A move to Strasbourg would offer Oppong Peprah another opportunity to build his career in France. Having established himself at Nice, a transfer to another Ligue 1 club could give him further regular experience at the highest domestic level and allow him to continue his progress in French football.

No negotiations are understood to be at an advanced stage, but Strasbourg’s enquiry is an indication of the growing interest in the defender. His displays for Nice have placed him among Ghana’s emerging defensive prospects in European football.

Oppong Peprah was also included in the Ghana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The Black Stars reached the Round of 32 and moved beyond the group stage for the first time since their notable run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

That international experience, combined with the defender’s development in Ligue 1, has further increased his standing. It could also make him one of the Ghanaian players attracting close attention during the current transfer window.

For now, Strasbourg are continuing to evaluate their defensive options. Their interest in Oppong Peprah nevertheless represents a significant sign of the recognition he is receiving as he seeks to establish himself on the European stage.
