FIFA lifts Karela United FC player-registration ban after Sana Camara settlement

FIFA has closed disciplinary proceedings against Karela United FC after the Ghana Premier League club paid all outstanding sums owed to creditor Sana Camara, clearing the way for the permanent removal of the registration ban imposed in connection with the case.

The decision was communicated through the FIFA Legal Portal, where the world governing body confirmed that Sana Camara had received the amounts due under the ruling issued in case FPSD-23160.

With the financial obligations now settled, FIFA has formally ended the proceedings against Karela United FC. The club’s ban on registering new players, which was imposed as a result of the dispute, has also been lifted permanently.

FIFA has instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to remove the corresponding registration restriction at national level immediately. That direction means the GFA must also lift its own registration ban linked to the Sana Camara case.

The ruling gives Karela United FC clearance to register players in relation to the matter, following confirmation that the club has fulfilled the payment requirements set out in the original decision.

However, FIFA stressed that the decision is limited to the case involving Sana Camara. It does not cancel, alter or otherwise affect any separate registration ban that may currently apply to Karela United FC in connection with other matters.

The club’s eligibility to register new players is therefore restored only in relation to the resolved dispute. Any other restrictions imposed through separate proceedings would remain subject to their own decisions and conditions.

FIFA’s correspondence marks the conclusion of the disciplinary process associated with case FPSD-23160. The proceedings were brought to an end after confirmation from the creditor that the required amounts had been received.

The lifting of the ban removes the specific registration obstacle created by the Sana Camara dispute and provides Karela United FC with the administrative clearance needed to register new players under that case.

Although the club has now settled its outstanding financial obligations to the creditor, FIFA’s clarification means the latest decision should not be interpreted as a blanket removal of every possible registration restriction affecting Karela United FC.

The Ghana Premier League side can therefore proceed with player registration in the resolved matter, while any separate case involving the club would continue to be governed by its own FIFA or national-level ruling.
