Morocco has appointed Mohamed Ouahbi as its new head coach, replacing Walid Regragui who stepped down citing exhaustion.
Ouahbi, a 49-year-old Belgian-Moroccan, led Morocco’s U20 team to victory in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup and will now take the reins of the senior team.
He brings a reputation for rigorous work and tactical flexibility, having previously worked with youth teams at RSC Anderlecht.
Ouahbi’s appointment marks a new chapter for Morocco, with friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay scheduled for March 27 and 31, respectively, ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
His staff will include João Sacramento as first assistant.
