OGC Nice vs AJ Auxerre – 03/03/2023

Nice's Stunning Run of Form to Continue With a Win Over Auxerre

4948

Nice will be eyeing up the top six after a great run of form sees them play hosts to Auxerre seventh in Ligue 1 with the home side coming into this one off the back of their best result of the season against Monaco.

Monaco were expected to ease past Nice in what was their best stint of form just before the game.

However, Nice blew them away with three first half goals in a stunning 3-0 win over the third-placed side, as Terem Moffi got off the mark with his new club after two goals inside 26 minutes.

Khephren Thuram added another just before half time, as Nice went on to keep a clean sheet as well and also register seven shots on target.

No side has beaten Monaco so comfortably in the past few months and they are just one of two teams to beat them at home this campaign – even Paris Saint-Germain lost there a few weeks back.

The 3-0 win extended Nice’s excellent unbeaten run to eight games in Ligue 1, as they also managed to defeat Marseille and Lens on the road too, which means the club are the only side in France this campaign to beat three of the top four away from home in the league.

It makes them arguably the most in-form side in the division right now.

This run of form has seen them reignite their hopes for a spot in Europe this year, with the club into seventh and only behind Rennes in fifth by five points. Didier Digard’s men have now won 11 games and lost just six and with 21 goals conceded, only Lens have a better defensive record than them so far.

As for Auxerre, they have also reignited their hopes of achieving their goals for this season with them now into 16th after the first set of consecutive wins in Ligue 1.

Ryan Raveloson was the difference away to Lorient last time out in a 1-0 win, as Auxerre also defeated Lyon 2-1 away from home just prior to this after goals from Jubal and Gaeten Perrin.

It puts the club outside of the relegation zone for the first time in many weeks, but they are only ahead of 17th-placed Ajaccio by a matter or two more goals scored with them sitting on one less win but two fewer games lost.

Forebet predicts a win for Nice and under 2.5 goals.
