RB Leipzig are third with 42 points and could move into third place with a win over Dortmund. Leipzig coach Marco Rose is aiming for a win over his former employers.
Rose led Leipzig to a 3-0 win at Red Bull Arena earlier this season. It was RB Leipzig’s third straight win over Borussia Dortmund in the league.
Willi Orban opened the scoring in the first half before Dominik Szoboszlai added a second before halftime. Amadou Haidara added a third with six minutes to play.
Borussia Dortmund have improved since losing 3-0 to RB Leipzig. The Yellow and Black are showing much more consistency than before the World Cup break.
Dortmund are top of the form table with 18 points from the last 18 points on offer. Edin Terzic’s team scored 16 goals and conceded three times across the last six matches.
Leipzig kept pace with Dortmund over the course of the last six matches, however. The Red Bulls are second in the form table, with 13 points across the last six fixtures.
They scored 14 goals and conceded five times to their opponents. Leipzig are on a two-match winning streak.
Goals could be on tap for Friday night at Signal Iduna Park. Borussia Dortmund saw over 2.5 goals in their last six matches against Leipzig in all competitions.
Terzic will be without two strikers for the match as Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko will miss through injury. Julian Ryerson should be back in the starting XI at right-back after recovering from a knock. Marius Wolf will likely drop to the bench.
Rose could start Christoph Nkunku for the first time since before the World Cup break. Nkunku has been battling an injury and only appeared as a sub in Leipzig’s last three Bundesliga matches. Konrad Laimer is out of action due to a ban after picking up a fifth yellow card.
Dortmund are flying in the Bundesliga. The Yellow and Black should continue their fine form with a win over RB Leipzig.
The victory will end Leipzig’s three-match win streak against Dortmund. Expect goals from these German high flyers with Dortmund winning 3-2.
