David Moyes may still be dealing with the disappointment of losing to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-final, but he has reacted by looking to strengthen his team ahead of next season.
His former assistant manager at West Ham, Alan Irvine, moved into a consultancy role at the end of last season but has been spotted at Ewood Park lately. That’s on the request of his former boss David Moyes, who the Daily Star report was there in order to watch Ben Brereton Diaz.
The Chilean international has been one of the deadliest strikers in the Championship this season, scoring 22 times in 37 league appearances and making him an attractive option to make the move up to the Premier League. Brereton Diaz raised eyebrows last summer when he declared for Chile, but impressed in the Copa America and now has 4 international goals in 11 appearances.
Hard-working, versatile and crucially with a natural instinct for goal, Brereton Diaz might well be the ideal option for Moyes. The Hammers have relied on Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio for goals but Said Benrahma hasn’t quite had the impact desired at the London Stadium.
