Manchester City has welcomed England defender Marc Guehi to the club, signing him from Crystal Palace on a five-and-a-half-year deal for an initial £20 million.
Guehi, 25, joins City as their second January signing, following Antoine Semenyo’s £64 million move from Bournemouth.
The England international is expected to bolster City’s defense, which has been hit by injuries to Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, and John Stones.
Guehi, who was entering the final six months of his contract with Palace, had been linked with several top European clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
“I am really happy and incredibly proud to be a Manchester City player,” Guehi said. “This move feels like the culmination of all the hard work I have put into my career”
City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, praised Guehi as “one of the best defenders in English football” and expressed delight at securing his signature.
