Asante Kotoko have been hit with a fresh injury setback after right back Lord Amoah sustained a serious knee injury.
The deputy captain was forced off in the 90th minute during Kotoko’s 2-0 away win over Young Apostles in Wenchi.
Amoah suffered the injury following a heavy challenge late in the match.
Medical personnel quickly arranged for him to be transported to Kumasi before the final whistle due to the severity of the situation.
Further medical examinations, including MRI scans, later confirmed significant damage.
Tests showed he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament as well as his medial meniscus.
The nature of the injury means the defender is expected to be sidelined for a lengthy period.
Amoah has been one of Kotoko’s key performers this season.
He has contributed to nine goals in the current campaign.
His absence presents a major challenge for Kotoko as the season approaches its decisive stage.
