Togo-Ghana defender Kennedy Boateng, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Kocaelispor.
The 29-year-old centre-back left Romanian club FC Dinamo on 1 July, having joined them from Austria Lustenau on a free transfer in July 2024. His departure has left him available for a new club, with Kocaelispor now reported as a potential destination.
Boateng made 53 appearances in Romania’s SuperLiga, scoring six goals and providing one assist. He also has experience in Portugal’s top flight, where he played 52 times for Santa Clara, and in Germany’s Bundesliga, making 41 appearances.
Born in Tamale, Boateng began his European career with Austrian club LASK in 2016 after leaving Ghanaian side WAFA SC. He later represented SV Ried, winning the Austrian Second League twice, in 2017 and 2020.
The 1.91m right-footed defender has spent much of his career in Austria, Portugal and Romania, and his current unattached status could allow Kocaelispor to negotiate a move without a transfer fee. His market value is listed at €1.2m.
The reported interest comes as Kocaelispor, newly identified as Boateng’s possible next club, weigh up options for their defence. No agreement has been confirmed, and Boateng remains without a club.
