Memphis Depay has reportedly made a series of unusual demands as he negotiates a new contract with Corinthians, including two days a year to use Neo Quimica Arena for personal events and a private box at the stadium.
According to Brazilian newspaper Gazeta Esportiva, the Netherlands forward is also seeking a 10% increase on the complete financial package previously agreed with the club. That package includes his salary, image rights and marketing payments. Depay has reportedly said the additional amount would be paid directly to his agent.
The negotiations also involve money Corinthians owes the player. The principal debt is understood to be about 45m Brazilian reais, rising to 77m reais – approximately $15m – once interest and penalties are included.
Depay has agreed to waive the additional charges and accept the original sum in four instalments, paid every six months. However, his condition is that the debt should immediately return to its full value of 77m reais if Corinthians misses any of the scheduled payments.
The proposed new contract, worth 70m reais over two seasons through salary, image rights and marketing income, would also include financial penalties for late payments. Depay’s representatives have suggested monthly interest of 1.5% and a 10% fine if the club fails to pay on time.
The player has further requested guarantees over 14m reais in marketing revenue that Corinthians has promised to generate through commercial campaigns involving him. He wants to receive the entire amount even if the club does not reach the intended target.
In addition, Depay is seeking a further 10% on the value of the contract as part of the proposed arrangements.
Those conditions would be added to earlier demands reportedly put forward by the player. They included the provision of a private box at Neo Quimica Arena, a 50% share of Corinthians’ revenue during the contract period and 20% of bonuses earned from winning trophies.
Depay also wants to receive a share of potential FIFA Club World Cup prize money in the future, even if he is no longer a Corinthians player or is not included in the team competing in the tournament.
Corinthians’ board previously rejected the player’s earlier requests. Depay joined the Brazilian club in 2024 and has made 79 appearances, scoring 20 goals.
He has won three trophies with Corinthians, although the source report does not specify which competitions those titles came in. The latest demands have added further complexity to discussions over whether the 32-year-old will continue his spell at the club under a new agreement.
