Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, has revealed plans to hold talks with his players after the team’s recent setback in the Ghana Premier League.
The Tarkwa-based club suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat at home to Hohoe United at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.
The result means Medeama have now gone five league matches without recording a victory, raising concerns as the title race enters a crucial stage.
The match itself produced several dramatic moments that ultimately worked against the league leaders. Medeama had the numerical advantage during the encounter but failed to take advantage of it.
Despite the disappointing result, Medeama remain at the top of the league table.
Their position was preserved after second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars were also unable to secure maximum points in their latest fixture.
As a result, the defending champions continue to lead the standings by a narrow one-point margin.
Speaking after the match, Tanko admitted that the current situation requires immediate attention from both the technical team and the players.
“I think I have to meet with the players and then see the way forward,” he said.
“I have been in this game for a long time, and this kind of day happens sometimes. It’s not normal that you miss a penalty, you give away a goal and another own goal. Definitely it’s difficult for you to win.”
With nine games still remaining before the end of the season, the title race remains wide open.
Medeama will be hoping to quickly rediscover their winning form in order to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
