Bibiani GoldStars coach Frimpong Manso says adapting quickly to the Accra Sports Stadium will be key as his side prepares to face Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The Ghana Premier League champions will play the first leg on Saturday in Accra after their Bibiani base, Dun’s Park, was deemed unfit to host continental fixtures by CAF.
GoldStars have shifted their training camp to the capital in a bid to familiarise themselves with the pitch before the clash.
“It [home advantage] helps a lot, you know. If you are used to a certain home ground, like in Bibiani, we’ve been playing there week in, week out,” Manso told Joy Sports.
“But at the Accra Sports Stadium, we only come when we are playing against Hearts of Oak or one of the Accra teams. So, yes, we will have the opportunity to train, I think, twice before we play, so that will also help us to be able to see how the field is.
“And then also, when we train on it, I think it will give us that boost and the confidence to play on Saturday.”
The return fixture is set for Algeria a week later, with the aggregate winner progressing to the second preliminary round.
