German-born Ghanaian centre-back Jacob Danquah has completed a free transfer move to Regionalliga Südwest side Stuttgarter Kickers, reuniting with his former club following the expiration of his contract with Hannover 96’s U23 side.
The 20-year-old, who previously featured in Stuttgart’s youth setup, returns to familiar surroundings in Degerloch as he looks to take the next step in his career.
An official statement from the club read:
“Stuttgarter Kickers are pleased to welcome Jacob Danquah, a familiar face, back to the Blues. The 20-year-old central defender is transferring from Hannover 96’s U23 team back to Degerloch.”
Danquah expressed his excitement about returning to the club where he developed as a youngster.
“It’s great to be back home – in the city and at the club. I’m looking forward to the new challenges, growing with the team, and celebrating successes together,” he said via the club’s website.
Sporting director Lutz Siebrecht also welcomed the move, highlighting Danquah’s character and potential.
“I know Jacob well from my first term in office and know what qualities he brings on and off the pitch. Therefore, I’m all the more pleased that we were able to convince him to return to the Kickers. He has everything he needs to be successful with us.”
Born in Brandenburg an der Havel, Danquah remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally due to his heritage.
