Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso made a huge statement on his debut for Belgian side Eupen on Sunday against Oostende as he eyes a return to the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The 32-year-old joined Eupen on loan from Chinese side Shenzhen this summer transfer window following a successful trail.
The former Deportivo Alaves midfielder made the starting line up for Eupen in his debut game in the Belgian Pro League against Oostende at the Diaz Arena on Saturday.
Wakaso who has last played competitive football several months ago showed his class with an impressive performance for Eupen.
The Ghana international was rated 6.8 by football performance rating app Sofascore.
He had a rating of 88percent in accurate passes, six ground duels won out of 14 attempts, nine 9 out of 11 attempts on long balls accuracy.
Wakaso was outstanding in his first competitive game played in 2022.
The former Levante midfielder was last involved in a competitive game in November 2021 during the 2022 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Mubarak Wakaso was named in Ghana’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ((AFCON) in Cameroon but was ruled out due to injury.
