Ghana FA keeps mute on Black Stars return of Ayews

The Ghana FA remains coy on the status of their bid to have Andre and Jordan Ayew return to the Black Stars ahead of June’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Olympique Marseille duo slapped in their letters to temporarily retire from the national team early last month before Ghana thrashed Sudan 4-0 in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Ghana FA has since stated its willingness to listen to and address the un-detailed concerns raised by the sons of Ghana legend Abedi Pele in their letters to take leave of Black Stars duty.

With just about six-weeks towards another crucial World Cup qualifiers against Sudan in the reverse fixture and against Lesotho, questions over the availability of the Ayews are gradually being posed.

The Ghana FA however choses to keep mute on the issue at the moment – allowing for some sort of ongoing mediation to yield results before making any public statements.

“There was a point made about they (Andre and Jordan Ayew) being engaged at a level so we wouldn’t want to speak to that matter until those doing the engagement give us a concrete feedback,” Ghana FA’s Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie-Daara told Takoradi-based Melody FM.

“It is a very high-level engagement and we wouldn’t want to go further by saying anything. It is a good engagement and we are engaging them.”

Both players missed the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa for different reasons.

While Jordan didn’t even make Ghana’s provisional squad, his elder brother Andre was axed from the final squad after failing to meet a prescribed deadline to report to the Black Stars camp pitched in the UAE.
