Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper and captain, Danlad Ibrahim, has expressed deep appreciation to his former club while reflecting on his departure.
Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM, the current Ethiopian Coffee SC shot-stopper shared heartfelt sentiments about his time with the Porcupine Warriors.
According to Danlad, his decision to leave the club was not out of discontent but rather a personal ambition to experience a new football environment.
He emphasized that the move was in the best interest of both himself and Kotoko.
“The decision to leave Kotoko was driven by my desire to explore a different environment, and I believe it was in the best interest of both the club and myself. I will always be grateful to Kotoko for the faith they showed in me, even during times when my performance may not have met expectations,” Danlad explained.
He also pledged unwavering loyalty to the club and expressed his desire to return and serve the team again in the future.
“I will never forget what Kotoko has done for me. I owe the club a great deal, and I hope that one day, I can return and give back to the club all that they’ve invested in me.”
Danlad, who rose through the ranks at Kotoko, remains one of the youngest players to have captained the team.
His statement has since sparked admiration among the club’s faithful, who continue to regard him as one of the most disciplined and dedicated goalkeepers to have donned the red jersey.
