Midfielder David Abagna Sandan was on target for APOEL Nicosia in their 2-2 draw against Slovenian side NK Celje in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League playoffs.
The former RTU star delivered an impressive performance, netting his third goal of the competition before being substituted in the 83rd minute at the Stadion Z’dežele in Slovenia.
Armandas Kučys opened the scoring for NK Celje in the 2nd minute, but Abagna equalized in the 31st minute to send the game into halftime level at 1-1.
In the second half, Kučys restored the lead for the hosts, but APOEL’s Konstantinos Laifis struck in the 70th minute to secure a crucial draw for the visitors.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian midfielder has been in sensational form this season, with six goals and three assists in 30 appearances.
The return leg will take place on February 20 at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
