Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar Jose Evora “Vozinha” Dias has completed his move to Chilean top-flight club Colo Colo and was given a raucous reception by supporters following delays after the transfer was announced last month.

The 40-year-old arrived in Chile after leaving Portuguese second division side Chaves, where he spent the previous two seasons. His move to Colo Colo follows an outstanding campaign with Cape Verde at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where his performances helped the Blue Sharks make history on their tournament debut.

A group of Colo Colo fans gathered at the airport to welcome Vozinha when he arrived in the country. The reception provided a lively introduction to his new club, with supporters turning out to greet the goalkeeper before he began the next stage of his career.

Vozinha played a central role in Cape Verde’s impressive run at the World Cup. The Blue Sharks progressed to the Round of 32 in their first appearance at the tournament, before their campaign ended with a 3-2 defeat by Argentina after extra time.

The goalkeeper produced a series of important saves during the competition, helping Cape Verde advance beyond the group stage and reach the knockout phase. His contribution was recognised with selection for FIFA’s Team of the Tournament.

That World Cup display helped secure his move to Colo Colo, with the Chilean club completing the signing after the announcement made last month. The delay before his arrival had kept supporters waiting, but his reception at the airport marked the formal start of his time with the club.

Vozinha now joins Colo Colo after two seasons with Chaves in Portugal’s second division. At 40, he brings his experience from international football and from a career that has now taken him to Chile following Cape Verde’s breakthrough at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Blue Sharks’ progress to the Round of 32 was one of the notable stories of the tournament. Although Argentina eventually ended their run in extra time, Cape Verde’s performance represented a significant achievement in the country’s first World Cup campaign.

For Colo Colo, Vozinha’s arrival adds a goalkeeper who was one of the standout figures in that historic run. His saves were a key part of Cape Verde’s progress, while his place in FIFA’s Team of the Tournament further reflected the impact he made on the competition.

Footage of the supporters’ welcome at the airport captures the enthusiasm surrounding his arrival as Vozinha begins his new chapter with Colo Colo.
