Andre Ayew is closing in on a major milestone as he gets ready to make his 500th league appearance on Saturday.
The attacker will hit the mark if he features for Le Havre when they host Marseille in a crucial Ligue 1 tie.
Ayew made his name at Marseille, playing over 200 games between 2007 and 2015. His father, Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele, also famously led the club to Champions League glory in 1993.
Now 35, Ayew has played in France, England, Turkey and Qatar, with spells at clubs like Swansea, West Ham, Fenerbahçe and Al Sadd.
Since joining Le Havre last November, Ayew has brought experience to a side fighting to stay in Ligue 1.
The club is deep in a relegation scrap, and Saturday’s clash could be key to their survival hopes.
Ayew’s return to face Marseille adds extra emotion to the day, a reminder of where it all began, and a marker of how far he’s come.
