Division One League side AshantiGold SC have completed the signing of experienced midfielder Richard Boadu as they intensify efforts to secure a return to the Ghana Premier League.
The former Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko midfielder joined the Obuasi-based club on transfer deadline day, signing a deal that will keep him at AshantiGold until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Boadu’s arrival is seen as a major statement of intent as AshantiGold reinforce their squad ahead of the decisive phase of the campaign, with promotion firmly in sight.
Prior to the move, the 27-year-old had been training with Asante Kotoko and was widely linked with a possible return to the Kumasi giants. However, despite the speculation, Boadu opted for a short-term commitment with AshantiGold, choosing regular football and a central role in their promotion chase.
The midfielder brings a wealth of top-flight experience, having featured prominently in the Ghana Premier League and also enjoyed a stint abroad with Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi following his move from Kotoko in 2023.
AshantiGold will be counting on Boadu’s leadership, composure, and tactical intelligence in midfield as they look to steady their push back to the top tier of Ghanaian football.
