Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says his team is travelling to Kpando fully focused on victory as they prepare to face Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors head into the Week 21 fixture sitting third on the table with 45 points, trailing leaders Medeama SC by eight.
Kotoko will take on the seventh-placed Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday, January 31, in what is expected to be a demanding away test.
Despite Kotoko’s well-documented struggles at the venue in recent seasons, Zito insists his players are mentally ready for the task.
“We are going in with the intention to win,” Zito stated ahead of the encounter.
Kotoko go into the match buoyed by a convincing 3-0 win over Basake Holy Stars in their previous league outing.
That victory snapped a run of three games without a win and restored belief within the squad.
Striker Albert Amoah made an immediate impact in that match, registering a goal and an assist on his return from a brief spell in Libya.
Zito believes such performances reflect a renewed hunger as Kotoko look to remain in the title conversation.
“We are going in with a present situation to go and win [irrespective of Kotoko’s struggles against Lions in Kpando],” the coach added.
