Aduana Coach raises alarm over team’s growing goal drought

Published: 4 months ago
Ghana Premier League

Aduana F.C. head coach Cioabă Aristica says his side must urgently fix their attacking problems after another frustrating outing in the Ghana Premier League.

The two-time champions have now gone two straight games without a goal, a run that has cost them their place at the top of the table.

Their latest slip, which was a goalless draw at home to Holy Stars, followed a 1–0 defeat to reigning champions Gold Stars.

Aristica admitted the trend is worrying, pointing to repeated missed chances in both fixtures.

‘‘In the last match against Holy Stars, it was the same situation.

“For 45 minutes, we pressed the opponents and had clear, clear goal-scoring opportunities. Really incredible six chances, and if the players are not able to score, then it is a problem for us,’’ Cioabă Aristica after their latest stalemate.

Aduana have found the net in only two of their last five matches and now sit second on the log, two points behind Medeama.

They have managed just 13 goals in 13 games, with leading marksman Emmanuel Marfo responsible for nearly half of that tally.

The team now faces a tough stretch, travelling to third-placed Heart of Lions before welcoming Hearts of Oak in their next home fixture.
