The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in partnership with its Technical Directorate and the Volta Regional Football Association (VRA), has launched the Football ‘4’ Girls grassroots initiative in Central Tongu, Adidome.

The programme, part of the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy, aims to unearth and nurture young talents in basic schools while challenging stereotypes about girls in football.

Eight schools including Amedzo Bilingual, EP Primary, and Adidome RC ‘A’ and ‘B’participated in a lively gala event packed with training sessions, fun games, and empowerment talks.

Teachers and headteachers were also engaged to promote an inclusive and supportive sporting culture in schools.

Participants received footballs and branded shirts, with the GFA urging schools to integrate football into Physical Education to sustain momentum.

The initiative also featured education sessions focused on breaking gender biases and inspiring the next generation through real-life stories of successful female footballers.

Central Tongu District FA Chairman, Mr. Atsu Kuadey, led the event, reinforcing the GFA’s commitment to building a solid foundation for women’s football; starting from the grassroots.
