Lawyer for former Hearts of Oak player René, David Winnie, has accused the club of intentionally delaying efforts to settle an outstanding debt owed to his client.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Winnie stated that although Hearts of Oak has engaged René on a few occasions, those interactions have failed to produce any meaningful progress toward resolving the matter.
“The club has engaged René on a few occasions, but no concrete figures, timelines, or payment structures have ever been proposed,” he said.
According to Winnie, the lack of commitment from the club demonstrates an absence of genuine intent to resolve the issue amicably.
“In simple terms, the club has shown no willingness to settle the debt. Instead, its actions suggest a deliberate attempt to delay the process,” he added.
The lawyer warned that such conduct risks undermining confidence in Ghana’s legal and dispute resolution systems if left unchecked.
“At this stage, the responsibility also lies with the court to assert its authority and ensure that due process is not abused,” Winnie stressed.
The case continues to attract public attention as questions grow over Hearts of Oak’s handling of contractual obligations and the pace of proceedings before the court.
