Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has been suspended for four matches and fined $20,000 (approximately 11 million FCFA) by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for alleged misconduct during Cameroon’s AFCON quarter-final loss to Morocco.
The suspension stems from Eto’o’s behavior during the match, which CAF deemed unacceptable.
FECAFOOT has expressed support for Eto’o and announced plans to appeal the decision, citing concerns over the fairness of the disciplinary process.
“FECAFOOT reaffirms its unwavering support for its president and its commitment to upholding the principles governing credible disciplinary justice,” the federation said.
Eto’o’s suspension is a significant blow to Cameroonian football, and the outcome of the appeal will be closely watched.
The move has sparked debate among football stakeholders, with some questioning CAF’s handling of the situation.
