Black Stars players have set sights on getting to the finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, says winger Joseph Paintsil.
Ghana’s last AFCON campaign in Cameroon fell short of expectations, having exited the group stage with one point.
As the 34th edition kicks off, there is a renewed hope that the Black Stars will rise to the occasion and break the more than 40-year Afcon trophy drought.
The team is drawn in group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
“Our expectation is to win our games. Go to the next level, win the next games, and then just get to the final, “Paintsil said in a video shared by the Ghana FA.
“That’s my expectation but one game at a time.”
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to commence in Ivory Coast on Saturday, January 13.
Ghana will play her first match at the tournament on Sunday, January 14, when they take on Cape Verde.
