Real Tamale United forward Rahim Akanta was named Man of the Match after scoring twice in his side’s 4-1 victory over Debibi United in the 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup Group A encounter.
Akanta was the outstanding player at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, where his two goals helped Real Tamale United respond strongly to their defeat in the opening group-stage fixture. The forward remained a consistent threat to Debibi United’s defence throughout the 90 minutes and played a central role in securing a convincing win.
His performance also moved him to the top of the X1 DOL Super Cup scoring standings. Akanta now has three goals in the competition, having found the net once in Real Tamale United’s opening match against Ebusua Dwarfs before adding two more against Debibi United.
Real Tamale United had started their Group A campaign with a 4-1 defeat by Ebusua Dwarfs. Akanta’s goal in that match was not enough to prevent his side from beginning the tournament with a loss, but his brace in the second game ensured a decisive response.
The forward’s contribution proved crucial in a match in which Real Tamale United scored four times and limited Debibi United to one goal. His two-goal display was subsequently recognised with the Man of the Match award.
Akanta’s latest goals have taken his tournament total to three and placed him ahead of the other scorers in the X1 DOL Super Cup. His first goal of the competition came against Ebusua Dwarfs, while both of his goals in the victory over Debibi United came during a performance that earned him individual recognition.
The result gives Real Tamale United a convincing victory in Group A after their opening-day setback. It also provides a significant boost to Akanta, who has quickly established himself as the leading scorer in the competition.
His form will now be central to Real Tamale United’s progress in the group stage. After scoring in both of the team’s matches so far, Akanta has supplied all three of his side’s goals in the tournament and has shown a clear ability to influence matches in front of goal.
The 4-1 win over Debibi United therefore combined a strong team recovery with another notable individual performance from Akanta. His brace secured the result, while his overall display at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium earned him the Man of the Match honour and lifted him to the top of the X1 DOL Super Cup goalscoring chart.
