FC AshantiGold will put their perfect home record on the line when they host regional rivals Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League’s Matchweek 8 Ashanti Derby at Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2026.
The Miners have won each of their three league matches at home this season, overcoming Vision FC, Debibi United and FC Samartex 1996. They now have the chance to make it four successive victories at Len Clay Stadium as they continue their return to Ghana’s top flight.
AshantiGold’s record in Obuasi stretches back beyond the current campaign. The club are unbeaten in their past 18 home league matches, a run that includes 15 wins and three draws dating from their time in the Division One League.
Their most recent league fixture, however, ended in disappointment as they were beaten 1-0 by Aduana FC. Under former Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito, AshantiGold will be looking to recover immediately and strengthen their position in the league.
Kotoko arrive with their own reasons for needing a positive result. The Porcupine Warriors are searching for their first away victory of the campaign after drawing twice and losing once in their opening three league matches on the road.
Their wider away record has also been a concern. Asante Kotoko have taken only three points from their last eight away fixtures in the Premier League, making a win in Obuasi particularly important as they attempt to halt that run.
A victory over AshantiGold would deliver both a valuable league result and regional bragging rights. The Kumasi-based club remain under the temporary leadership of caretaker coach Hamza Obeng while they wait for the appointment of a substantive head coach.
Obeng must now prepare his side for a difficult derby at a venue where AshantiGold have proved consistently hard to beat. The Miners’ unbeaten home sequence has made Len Clay Stadium one of the toughest grounds for visiting teams in the league.
For AshantiGold, success would extend their strong start at home and provide a response to their defeat by Aduana FC. Kotoko, meanwhile, need to improve their away form and would gain significant momentum by ending the Miners’ unbeaten run.
With three points, local pride and contrasting home and away records at stake, the meeting in Obuasi is set to be a closely contested encounter. AshantiGold will rely on their strength at Len Clay Stadium, while Kotoko seek a statement victory against their regional rivals.
