Real Madrid are closer than ever to completing the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig during the current summer transfer window.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sport Germany, said on X on Wednesday that the two clubs had reached the final stage of negotiations over the transfer.
“Big breakthrough! Real Madrid and Leipzig are on the verge of completing Yan Diomande’s transfer,” Plettenberg wrote.
He later published details of the proposed agreement, saying the guaranteed value of the deal would be €125m. That figure is expected to rise to €135m if a series of realistic performance-related bonuses are achieved.
The overall value could reach €140m, but only if all of the bonuses included in the agreement are triggered. Those additional payments are linked to conditions considered difficult to fulfil.
Plettenberg also reported that Leganes, Diomande’s former club, would receive approximately 5% of the profits from the player’s transfer. That payment is understood to be based on an agreement already reached between the parties involved.
Only the final formal procedures remain before the transfer can be officially completed, according to the report. Neither Real Madrid nor RB Leipzig has been reported as having formally announced the move at this stage.
The proposed transfer would represent a significant step in Diomande’s career after an impressive season with RB Leipzig. The winger also made a strong impression with Ivory Coast, featuring prominently during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.
His performances for both club and country have increased interest in his services, with Real Madrid now close to securing an agreement that could eventually be worth as much as €140m.
The structure of the deal means the immediate guaranteed payment is €125m, while the remaining €15m depends on the achievement of the specified bonus conditions. Leganes are also set to benefit financially from the move through their reported share of the profit.
The transfer will not be considered complete until the outstanding formalities have been concluded and the clubs make the agreement official.
