Wrexham and Burnley target Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Wrexham and Burnley are pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace and Ghana winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, with the transfer deadline now two weeks away.

The two Championship clubs are among the sides monitoring the left-footed attacker, who has built up significant experience in the English Football League through a series of loan spells.

Rak-Sakyi spent time with Charlton Athletic in League One before moving to the Championship with Sheffield United and Stoke City. Although he has featured in Crystal Palace’s pre-season fixtures, he remains on the fringes of the first team at Selhurst Park and could leave the UEFA Europa Conference League winners again this summer.

It is not yet clear whether Wrexham or Burnley are seeking a permanent transfer or a loan agreement. However, with new Palace manager Pierre Sage unlikely to offer Rak-Sakyi regular Premier League football, this could be the point at which the 22-year-old makes a permanent move away from the club.

Rak-Sakyi’s current contract at Crystal Palace runs until 2027, after he extended his deal with the London club in the summer of 2022. He therefore has one year remaining on his agreement, meaning Palace could view this summer as their final opportunity to receive a significant fee for the forward.

If he remains at the club, Rak-Sakyi would be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs from January 2027.

The winger’s most recent full season began after an inconsistent spell with Sheffield United. He scored seven league goals during his time with the Blades but was not consistently selected by manager Chris Wilder, limiting his involvement in the 2025 Championship play-offs.

A move to Turkiye then followed, with Rak-Sakyi joining Rizespor on loan for the 2025-26 season. He made a positive impression in the Super Lig, scoring four goals in 11 appearances, but the arrangement was ended during the January transfer window so he could return to England.

Stoke City subsequently signed Rak-Sakyi for the remainder of the campaign. He operated on both wings and in the number 10 position, scoring three times in 15 appearances, including eight starts.

Despite being involved in Palace’s pre-season programme, Rak-Sakyi faces strong competition for places in the club’s attacking positions. Ismaila Sarr, Yeremy Pino, Dwight McNeil and other forwards are all competing for opportunities, increasing the likelihood that the Ghana international could depart.

Wrexham and Burnley are now preparing to take advantage, with both Championship clubs continuing to consider whether Rak-Sakyi can strengthen their squads before the transfer deadline.
