The U.S. Embassy in Accra is educating Ghanaians on the proper way to apply for visas, particularly for those planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympic Games in the United States.
Consul General Elliot Fertik emphasized the importance of using the right channels to secure visas, stating:
“We want to make sure Ghanaians understand the proper way to apply for a visa and what is expected of them when and if they do receive a visa. We are committed to educating Ghanaians about the visa process so that they can avoid any problems or complications.”
With Ghana’s Black Stars on track to potentially qualify for the World Cup, fans are eager to travel to the U.S. to support their team. Fertik expressed enthusiasm for hosting Ghanaian fans, saying:
“We do look forward to continuing to welcome the world as we prepare to co-host the World Cup soccer tournament in 2026, and I am very much hopeful that Ghana will qualify… America is very proud to host these two events, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our shores who follow our rules.”
The embassy aims to ensure a smooth visa process for Ghanaians traveling to the U.S. for these events.
